  • How to make

200g potatoes
200g line caught haddock
100g frozen peas
1 tsp fresh mint
½ pint of milk (to poach the fish)

Step 1

Poach the haddock in milk in a large saucepan for about 5 minutes until cooked

Step 2

Peel and chop the potatoes and cook in boiling water for approx. 10 minutes until soft

Step 3

Cook the peas in boiling water in a small pan for 3-4 minutes until cooked

Step 4

Preheat the oven to 200°C / 180°C fan / gas mark 6

Step 5

Carefully remove the skin and any bones from the fish, and flake in with the potatoes. Add the drained peas and chopped fresh mint and stir thoroughly

Step 6

Shape the mixture into fishcakes, in whatever shape or size you think your little one would prefer - you can get creative and make "fish shaped" fishcakes if you like

Step 7

Brush each fish cake with a little oil then place onto a baking tray. Bake for approx. 20 minutes until golden. Allow to cool before serving

Recipe notes

Serve with some seasonal green vegetables like courgette, broccoli or some extra peas. For a different texture the fish cakes can be coated in polenta or breadcrumbs before baking.
