Parsnip & Butternut Squash Puree
- 30-60 minutes to prepare
- Makes lots of portions - ideal for freezing in ice cube trays for weaning
- Can be frozen
- How to make
Half a medium butternut squash
A little water (if needed)
How to make
Wash, peel and slice the parsnips and butternut squash, discard the seeds from the squash
Steam until soft (approx. 20-30mins), either using a steamer or by placing in a colander over a pan of simmering water and covering (you could boil the butternut squash instead, if you prefer)
In a bowl, blend to a smooth puree, adding some water if required (just enough to get the right consistency) – a hand blender will give the smoothest texture, but a food processor or blender can also be used
For an even smoother texture, push the puree through a fine sieve
All of our first weaning purees are here to help you get started. As you and your little one progress, why not add some herbs or spices to start gently introducing lots of exciting tastes and flavours.
