Holly Bell's Simple Apple & Pear Puree
- Under 10 minutes to prepare
- 10-30 minutes to cook
- Makes about 15 ice cube sized portions
- Can be frozen
- How to make
2 pears (about 160g prepared weight)
2 apples (about 150g prepared weight)
How to make
Peel, de seed and chop the fruit into 2cm chunks
Place in a small saucepan with 8 tbsp. cold water and simmer with the lid on for about 7 minutes until the fruit is tender and a knife passes through it easily
Allow to cool for 5 minutes then puree with a stick blender until smooth
This puree is unashamedly easy and simple to prepare, but incredibly delicious. If you have a vanilla pod in the kitchen then split it open and scrape half the seeds in as you cook the fruit. Vanilla adds a natural sweetness and depth of flavour.
Keeps in the fridge in an airtight container for 3 days or freezes well for 1 month. Defrost in the fridge overnight and reheat on the hob or in the microwave until piping hot. Stir well and always check the heat of baby food before serving.
*The Department of Health and the World Health Organization recommend nothing but breastfeeding for the first 6 months of a baby's life. At around 6 months your baby may show signs that they're ready for solid food.
