  • How to make

1 ripe avocado
1 eating apple
A little water (if needed)
A dash of lime juice (optional)

Step 1

Peel, core and quarter the apple and then peel, remove the stone and chop the avocado

Step 2

Steam the apple until soft (approx. 20mins), either using a steamer or by placing in a colander over a pan of simmering water and covering (you could boil the butternut squash instead, if you prefer)

Step 3

In a bowl, blend the apple and avocado together into a smooth puree, adding some water if required (just enough to get the right consistency) – a hand blender will give the smoothest texture, but a food processor or blender can also be used

Step 4

Adding a tiny amount of lime juice when blending will help to prevent the puree from turning brown, but be careful not to add to much as you don’t want a sour taste

Step 5

For an even smoother texture, push the puree through a fine sieve
