Special Diets
Much has been written about food allergies, some of it alarmist and much of it contradictory. Words such as food intolerance, adverse reaction and hypersensitivity add to the mystery. Only 2% of children actually suffer with a food allergy.
Foods commonly associated with allergies are: cow’s milk, eggs, nuts, wheat, strawberries, soybeans, fish, shellfish and sesame seeds. However, it is important that your child eats a wide variety of wholesome foods. Do not exclude foods on suspicion of allergy without talking to your doctor, as a restrictive diet can result in malnutrition.
